The second e-lecture
15th April 2004 at 11:00

The lecture was delivered by Mr. Frank Knoors (Sequoyah Consulting).
Title "Collaborative web-based multimodal logistics management: Strategies, processes & systems".

ABSTRACT: Recently the European Commission has given strong support for two intermodal concepts that every actor in the door-to-door intermodal logistics business should be aware of: the "Freight integrator" and "Sea Motorways". The presentation deals with these subjects and shows the potential impact of these developments on strategies and business processes of actors in such intermodal chains. Furthermore, we will be looking at a system developed by the European 5th Framework project "D2D" which supports freight forwarders and freight integrators to manage door-to-door logistics. The project "Polish Logistics Community System" funded by the Flemish Government investigates how such a system (which is aimed at the chain manager) can be turned in to a portal that supports all actors in such
intermodal chains. The presentation reports on the advancement of this project.
