ELITE Conference, part of the European Transport Conference 2004
Strasbourg

The enlargement of the European Union has a lot of consequences for logistics and freight transport. What is the infrastructure in the new member states like? What are the potentials for short sea transport in the Baltic? In what way has the function and position of freight transport in the Czech Republic changed? And what about the logistics market in Poland before and after the accession?

At the ELITE conference, members of ELITE, an European network of experienced consultancies in the fields of logistics, infrastructure and transport, will highlight different aspects of the changing situation in West European and East European transport in the light of the accession of the new member states. In two sessions, four ELITE members will give their view on the developments that have taken place or are to be expected in transport and in-frastructure research and policy, following the enlargement of the Union. Subjects to be discussed include the development of the Trans European Network (TEN's), logistics and logistic companies in Eastern Europe, transferability of transport research between East and West, and city logistics in the new member states.

The ELITE conference is an excellent opportunity to meet and discuss with market players in the European transport and logistics industry, infrastructure authorities, researchers and policy makers. The ELITE conference is part of the European Transport Conference 2004 (www.aetransport.org).
