  • sub task 2.2.1:
    • Infrastructure development and maintenance

The Centre's Goals:

  • To promote the idea of intermodal logistics centres as a systematic solution to the problem of developing transport infrastructure
  • To develop and disseminate methodology for construction of the most advanced, efficient and environmentally-friendly logistics centres as well as other kinds of nodal areas and terminals
  • To build a critical mass of knowledge concerning financing, planning, location and maintenance of intermodal logistics centres, also in terms of the best possible involvement of the local authorities
  • To make this knowledge available for all interested individuals and other entities from science, business and government sectors at the local, national and European levels

Measures (I):

  • Collaboration with leading experts in the field
  • Import of cutting-edge European methodologies
  • Cross-examination of best practices in the EU
  • Seeking help in European bodies experienced in political and social aspects of the logistics operations

Measures (II)

Aiming at propagation and popularisation of knowledge:

  • Creation of a network of competence covering NAS
  • Organisation of events aiming at dissemination of knowledge
  • Educational activities supported by multimedia and e-learning solutions

Measures (III)

Aiming at putting accumulated knowledge and resources to the test:

  • Establishing collaboration with authorities at the local, national and possibly European level
  • Offering methodology and support to business enterprises interested in participation in development of logistics infrastructure as well as their future users
  • Providing active support and theoretical background for creation of sustainable, intermodal transport policy at all levels of policy-making

Specific tasks: WP1&2

Networking activities:

  • WP1 - with knowledge suppliers
  • WP2 - with knowledge users in Newly Associated States
  • Establishing contacts with R&D facilities and consortia running and/or planing projects in the field, as well as with enterprises, organisations and authorities engaged in practical implementation
  • Building communication platforms
